‘SKILLS IN SPILLS’ by Spilldoktor offers a basic level of spill kit training
delivered on site by a Certificate IV qualified trainer.
The training course provides an understanding of the environmental concerns that relevant authorities have towards damage caused by spills. During the course participants are encouraged to reflect on how they will respond to a spill incident with the knowledge that they should not rely on others during such an event.
Discussion and information is provided concerning the different types of absorbents that are available on the market.
The course includes a segment on the properties of hydrocarbons and the techniques and equipment to control, contain and clean up spills. A “hands on” demonstration is used to illustrate important aspects of the various types of absorbents and other clean up products available. The important issues such as bio-remediation, disposal and incident reporting are covered in the course.
This training is provided on site for groups of up to 10 people. Each session has a 30 to 45 min duration.
For several groups training sessions are scheduled an hour apart up to eight per day.
Participants are questioned on their knowledge of the different types of absorbents and equipment demonstrated and discussed during the training.
A short multiple-choice questionnaire at the conclusion of the course will help participants assess their level of competency and knowledge.
A certificate of completion is issued to each staff member who attends SKILLS IN SPILLS.
Signed and dated by a qualified trainer, this certificate is valid for 12 months after which time a refresher course is recommended.
